Veteran Mountain Climber Jeff Simon Heads To Mexico
Jeff Simon of CENTURY 21 Affiliated is no stranger to mountain climbing. In fact, he’s climbed Kilimanjaro, Pico Duarte in the Caribbean and a number of mountains in the Alps. This month Jeff will join CENTURY 21 CEO Rick Davidson and the Climb for Kids team as they ascend two volcanoes in Mexico.
C21: How did you decide to participate in this year’s Climb for Kids?
JS: I am doing the Climb for Kids because I love this type of adventure and if I can help children out at the same time, that’s what it’s all about for me!
C21: Have you set any personal goals for the climb?
JS: My only goal is to enjoy the moment!
C21: How have you been training in preparation for the trip?
JS: I trained for this climb by completing Ironman Wisconsin in September of this year. A 2.1 mile swim,112 mile bike followed by a 26.2 mile run.
C21: Wow! You are also quite the experienced climber, correct?
JS: I have climbed Kilimanjaro. I climbed a number of mountains in the Alps and more recently climbed Pico Duarte the tallest mountain in the Caribbean this past January after a trip to Haiti to help rebuild a school.
C21: What are you most looking forward to about this adventure to Mexico?
JS: Seeing the sunrise on the top of the mountain. Nothing like a sunrise on top of the world to put it all in perspective!
C21: What is the one thing you’ll make sure to include in your pack?
JS: Photos of my beautiful wife Kris and my two kids, Reid and Dylan.
